Eligibility

Open to USBC members of GCCUSBC as of November 2, 2026. This USBC-certified adult/child team doubles tournament is operated under USBC rules. Age requirements follow USBC Playing Rules 16a (Adult membership) and 400 (Youth membership): a Junior is a USBC Youth member who had not reached their 18th birthday prior to August 1, 2026. An Adult is a USBC adult member 18 years of age or older.

Entry, Averages & Handicap (Rules 1–7)
  1. Teams. Each team is 1 Adult and 1 Junior bowling 3 games for a team total (handicap per rules 3–6).
  2. Optional Singles. Juniors may also enter Optional Singles using the same 3-game total; the $10 fee is returned 100% as SMART awards.
  3. Handicap. Handicap is 90% of the difference between the bowler’s average and 230 (minimum 0).
  4. Entering Average (USBC leagues; Juniors use Youth leagues, or adult leagues if no Youth average; fractions dropped): A. Highest 2025-2026 book average. B. If none, highest 2026-2027 average of 12+ games; a standing sheet as of November 2, 2026, must be provided. C. All others bowl with an average of 230 (zero handicap).
  5. Verify Your Average. Each bowler must verify their own average, whether submitted by the bowler, their partner, or others; corrections must be made before the first game (USBC Rule 319a-3). If a submitted average is lower than the correct average and results in more handicap or a lower division, the score may be disqualified, with no refund. If it is higher, prizes are based on the submitted average.
  6. No Rerating. USBC Rules 319a-2 (current average 10+ pins over last season’s, 21+ games) and 319e (tournament average 15+ pins over entering average, 21+ games in prior 12 months) do not apply; entering averages will not be raised.
  7. Multiple Entries. Bowlers may enter more than once. The same pair may place only once (highest score counts); a junior or adult with different partners may place up to three times. Juniors may enter singles once (first doubles series counts).
Prizes & Scholarships (Rules 8–9)
  1. Prize Fund. All prize and singles fees returned 100% as junior SMART scholarships; at least one (1) prize per eight (8) entries per division. Adults do not receive prizes.
  2. Scholarships. Awards are USBC SMART scholarships (plus GCCUSBC and sponsor funds) for juniors in each division; no cash. Winners will receive SMART award notification within 40 days of the tournament, with a celebration for all winners at the June 2027 awards luncheon (details TBD). SMART funds are for education after high school graduation and expire eight years after graduation.
Conduct & Electronics (Rules 10–13)
  1. Check-In. Report to the Tournament Director at least 30 minutes before your squad time.
  2. Bowling Area. Bowlers may not leave the bowling area during play without a Tournament Official’s permission.
  3. Tournament Dress Code. Dress appropriately for a family event. No hats during practice or play (religious and medical head coverings excepted). No apparel or bowling equipment depicting alcohol, tobacco, gambling, illegal substances, or vulgar or inappropriate language, images, or gestures. See the dress code chart.
  4. Electronics. No cell phones, gaming systems, or texting during practice or play; phones may stay in a bowling bag for emergencies. Be ready to bowl when it is your turn.
Divisions, Refunds & Deadlines (Rules 14–16)
  1. Divisions (based on rules 1–6): Team Entry uses the combined entering averages of both bowlers; Optional Singles uses the junior’s entering average. See the Divisions table above.
  2. Refunds. A. No refunds after the entry is processed and squad times are assigned. B. Returned checks: the entry fee plus a $25.00 fee must be paid in cash before bowling.
  3. Deadlines. Mail-in entries must be received by November 4, 2026; walk-in entries close 30 minutes before squad time.
