Combined Category (meritorious service/bowling ability)

Minimum total points to qualify for Combined Consideration (Meritorious/Bowling Ability) are 120.  A ratio of 60%/40% must come from meritorious service/bowling ability or bowling ability/meritorious service.  This means that a candidate must have a minimum of 72 meritorious points and 48 bowling ability points or vice versus for 120 total points to qualify.

Friend of Bowling Category

This category recognizes those USBC members (includes all merged associations) who have devoted time, personal expense, knowledge and experience to advance the game and/or improvement of others and help to promote the sport for the association and/or centers and/or bowlers.  To be considered for this category, a GCCUSBC member must be nominated by letter by another GCCUSBC member in good standing.  The committee may ask the candidate to submit at least one additional letter from another GCCUSBC member in good standing as further evidence for eligibility to aid its decision.  Letters of nomination must be submitted by January 1st ofr each year to be considered.

     Yearly Nominations

The Hall of Fame Committee recommends that no more than three or four candidates a year be considered for entrance into its local Hall of Fame.  If there are both men and women nominated in the same category, it is recommended that the committee includes one member from each category with the highest point totals to be considered, for equality. Exceptions to this rule would have to be voted on by a 2/3 majority of directors at a regular meeting.  It is

also recommended that no more than two inductees should be included from any of the three categories, unless there are an unusually high number of candidates.  (For example if two members were going in for Bowling Ability then the third candidate must come from either, Meritorious Service, Combined, or Friend of Bowling categories.)  There is always the possibility that no candidates or one or two candidates could be recommended.  All candidates must be voted on by a ½ + 1 majority of the membership on the Board of Directors no later than the March meeting.  The GCC Hall of Fame Committee is also responsible for maintaining records of individuals who may be considered for the CTUSBC Hall of Fame in any of its categories and recommending them to the GCC Board for its approval.  They are then sent to the CTUSBC Hall of Fame Committee for its consideration if they qualify according to the state point system which differs from the local..  This must be done within the CTUSBC timeline which may differ from the GCC timeline.  Any number may be sent in since the state uses its own selection process.

Lifetime Membership

The Hall of Fame Committee is responsible for recommending, to the GCC board, GCCUSBC directors with a combined 15 or more years of service to any former CCBA, GHWBA, C.C.J.B.A., GCC Board member/officer or a combination thereof to be eligible for a local lifetime membership.  The committee shall be responsible for securing nominations submitted by any current GCC Board member and consider the nominee’s list of accomplishments and services to their respective boards before selecting worthy recipients to present to the entire board for voting purposes by the March meeting.  They may present one or more nominees for any given year with the award to be presented at the following year’s awards dinner.  The award will be lifetime payment of local dues and a ring denoting this honor.  Any previous lifetime members from any of the above mentioned boards shall automatically be grandfathered into this membership.
